He may not agree with the nickname, "Usher of Bollywood", but his actions certainly revealed the diva in him.

Said the Punjabi rapper and music producer: "My mother used to call me 'honey' and when I was back in the UK, some friends said 'Yo Singh' when calling out to me. So I combined the two and there is how my moniker came about."

Singh is fast becoming a the world's most successful Bollywood artiste. Indeed, the heart-throb has released a few hit singles that have reached an average of three million views on YouTube. In addition, he is recognised by the BBC as the most-downloaded Asian artiste, and has inspired passionate fans of all ages and races with his catchy beats, dance moves and good looks.

One video of his which stands out is the 71/2-minute single Satan featuring a spooky figure with red eyes who is "worshipped" by people.

Singh said: "Satan was my concept."

He added that the video seeks to speak out against drugs and drug peddlers, whom he described as "devils".

"A friend directs contemporary cinema, so we discussed it and came up with the concept for Satan," he said.

As much as Singh enjoys making stereotypical hip-hop videos that involve guns, clubs, parties and Bugattis, he feels the need to try something else, hence the concept for Satan.

"At the end of the day, that (Satan) was a true artistic and contemporary attempt of mine, and intellectual people are appreciating it, but other people are saying it's rubbish."

The international stage is where Singh sees himself in the long run. Such is his ambition that he promises to win a Grammy one day.

"My target is to make it big and grab a Grammy for India in my language," he said.

Singh is expected to hit the international stage with other collaborations that can't be named yet.

One particular track that he is excited about features American contemporary R&B singer-songwriter Truth Hurts.

Singh said: "Basically, it's a romantic R&B Asian track with many Arabic influences. I sing in English and Punjabi, while she sings in English.

"The track is ready and we have planned to shoot the video in five continents and will release it in April next year."
