Punjab government on Thursday sought a report from Jalandhar deputy commissioner on Nakodar councillor's complaint against Punjabi singer Hans Raj Hans, for alleged demolition of ancient mosques and felling trees. Department of public grievances and pension in an official communication to deputy commissioner said that councillor Hari Mittar Sondhi's complaint registered with the president's secretariat is transferred for taking necessary action.

It said that action taken report should be submitted to the government at the earliest. Sondhi had alleged that Dera Lal Badshah head Hans Raj Hans had demolished four ancient mosques of saints from Valmiki community. Meanwhile Nakodar Nagar Council (NC) received no reply to the notices it issued to Hans raj Hans, and 13 others members of a trust formed by him, to manage the affairs of Dera Lal Badshah.

The notices had asked the respondents to explain why legal action should not be taken against them for forming a trust on NC land, an illegal action. NC executive officer Varinder Jain said till Thursday no reply has been received from Hans Raj Hans or any other member. He said that deputy director local bodies Jalandhar has called him for discussions on NC resolution passed on January 25, terming the trust as illegal, which was pending for approval.

Jain said that the issue of forming trust on NC land has reached the authorities at higher level, and he would follow directions issued in this connection, adding that encroachment of NC land is a decided fact and further action would be taken as per rules.
