The Kharar police have registered a case against Punjabi singer Preet Brar and his accomplices for theft and forcibly occupying a flat at Mundi Kharar on Wednesday. Superintendent of police (city), SAS Nagar, Swarandeep Singh said the case has been registered on the complaint of Pawan Taneja, who stated that around two years back he had bought a flat from Amrit Brar, brother of Preet Brar, for Rs. 6.5 lakh and he and his family were staying there since then.

As per the complaint, on April 16, Preet Brar and 20 people came to Tanejas house when his family was away to work and they took households goods, including jewellery and cash. “We are investigating the matter and hopefully, they will be arrested soon,” the SP said. Taneja maintained that the flat could not be registered in his name as Amrit Brar left for England and some days back Preet Brar came to his house and told him to vacate the flat and they will return his money. On April 16, when Taneja and his wife had gone to work, he received a call from his neighbour that some people had entered his house and had taken away some household items. “They even took clothes, kitchen items and schoolbooks of my son,” Taneja said.

Preet Brar had recently released his album Rise of Jatt and his song Teri yari karka become popular. A case has been registered under Sections 452 (House trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 447 (Punishment for criminal trespass), 380 (Theft in dwelling house, etc.,), 506 (cause the destruction of any property), 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) of the IPC.
