ਆਪਣੀ ਗ੍ਰਿਫਤਾਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਣ ਲਈ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਭਿਨੇਤਾ ਜਿੰਮੀ ਸ਼ੇਰਗਿੱਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ਸਣੇ ਸਬ ਡਵੀਜ਼ਨਲ ਜੁਡੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਮੂਨਕ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਰੰਡਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਣਯੋਗ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਲੋਂ ਉਕਤ ਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਰਾਸ਼ੀ ਜਮ੍ਹਾ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ 'ਤੇ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਤਰਕਸ਼ੀਲ ਆਗੂ ਅਤੇ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਹਰਿੰਦਰ ਲਾਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਐਡਵੋਕੇਟ ਅਨਿਲ ਗਰਗ ਨੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਅੱਜ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਫਿਲਮ ਨਿਰਮਾਤਾ ਤੇ ਅਭਿਨੇਤਾ ਜਿੰਮੀ ਸ਼ੇਰਗਿੱਲ, ਲੇਖਕ ਧੀਰਜ ਰਤਨ, ਕਾਰਜਕਾਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੋਡਿਊਸਰ ਜੋਹਨ ਚੇਰੀਅਨ, ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਨਵਨੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ-ਆਪ ਨੂੰ ਸਬ ਡਵੀਜ਼ਨਲ ਜੁਡੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਮੂਨਕ ਵਿਖੇ ਸਰੰਡਰ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਮਾਣਯੋਗ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਨੇ ਉਕਤ ਚਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ 15000-15000 ਰੁਪਏ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ ਰਾਸ਼ੀ ਜਮ੍ਹਾ ਕਰਵਾਉਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤ 'ਤੇ ਰਿਹਾਅ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ 8 ਜੁਲਾਈ 2013 ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ੀ ਮੌਕੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹੋਣ ਦਾ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਦੱਸਣਯੋਗ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਿੰਮੀ ਸ਼ੇਰਗਿੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਨੀਲ ਲੱਲਾ ਵਲੋਂ ਮਈ 2012 ਵਿਚ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਿਤ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਫਿਲਮ 'ਟੌਹਰ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਦੀ' ਵਿਚ ਵਕੀਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਵਕਾਲਤ ਪੇਸ਼ੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀ ਵਰਤੇ ਗਏ ਅਪਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਕਾਰਨ ਇਹ ਫੌਜਦਾਰੀ ਮੁਕੱਦਮਾ ਦਾਇਰ ਕਰਵਾਇਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ। ਜਸਟਿਸ ਹਰਸਿਮਰਨਜੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਸਬ ਡਵੀਜ਼ਨਲ ਜੁਡੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਅਦਾਲਤ ਮੂਨਕ ਵਲੋਂ ਵਕੀਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਦਰੁੱਸਤ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਉਕਤ ਵਿਅਕਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੇਸ਼ ਹੋਣ ਲਈ ਸੰਮਨ ਭੇਜੇ ਗਏ, ਫਿਰ ਜ਼ਮਾਨਤੀ ਵਾਰੰਟ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ।

Actor Jimmy Shergill and director Navniat Singh of Punjabi movie 'Taur Mitran Di' along with story writer Dheeraj Ratan, and executive producer John Cherain surrendered before a Moonak court in a defamation case on Tuesday.
Moonak sub-divisional judicial magistrate Harsimranjit Singh granted bail to all the four after they submitted bond of Rs. 15,000 each. Earlier, the court had issued non-bailable arrest warrants against the cast and crew of the movie after they failed to show up on May 28 in response to bailable warrants.
Of the total 12 accused, against whom arrest warrants were issued on May 29, eight are yet to surrender before the court. Apart from above-said four accused, non-bailable warrants were also issued against actors Amarinder Gill, Ranvijay Singh, Surveen Chawla, Amita Pathak; Sunil Lulla of Eros International Productions; production head Kailash Jadhav; associate director Amit Prasher and editor Manish More. The next hearing in the case has been fixed for July 8.
On September 11, 2012, Arpinder Singh Sidhu, president of bar association of Moonak, had filed a criminal complaint under Sections 499, 500 and 120-B of the IPC against Jimmy Shergill, co-producer of film, and others named above for defaming the lawyer community and their profession in the movie. A Sunam court, too, has issued bailable warrants against the cast and crew of the movie for August 1 on the complaint of advocate Harinder Lally.
